Anna Turley
Anna Turley is Deputy Director at New Local Government Network responsible for the strategic direction and profile of the organisation.
Anna was previously Special Adviser to Hilary Armstrong MP in the Cabinet Office with responsibility for Social Exclusion, Transformational Government and Better Regulation. Prior to that, she was Special Adviser to David Blunkett MP in the Department for Work and Pensions, focusing on child poverty and equality. She started her career as a fast-stream civil servant in the Home Office where she worked on a range of issues including youth crime, policing, immigration and community involvement in the criminal justice system. Anna’s areas of work focus on local public service reform and community empowerment. Her recent publications include First Amongst Equals: Diversity in local leadership and public appointments; Stronger together: A new approach to preventing violent extremism and We Can Work it Out: Local Employment and Skills for Economic Recovery.
