Paul Walker took up post of Chief Executive of Hartlepool Borough Council in August 2003.
By profession an accountant, Paul’s whole career to date, spanning 38 years, has been spent in local government. He has worked in a variety of finance roles in a number of authorities throughout the country, culminating in his appointment as Treasurer of Lancaster City Council in 1988.
In 1993, Paul was appointed to his first Chief Executive post with Kettering Borough Council in Northamptonshire. In 2000 he moved to become Chief Executive of Dacorum Borough Council in Hertfordshire, subsequently being appointed to his present role with this Council in 2003.
Paul is also a non-executive member of the Tees Valley Regeneration Limited and Safe in Tees Valley Limited, an adviser to the Association of North East Councils and the local authority representative on the Regional Resilience Forum.
