Julia Goldsworthy MP champions local government action on climate change
Speaking at an NLGN Reception at the Liberal Democrat conference Julia Goldsworthy MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, praised the role of councils and their partners in driving forward local efforts to combat climate change.
Julia stressed the need to avoid concentrating solely on national and international efforts, when it is at the local level that most action can be taken. Local councils play a vital role in providing numerous examples of good practice and pushing Westminster to adopt more stringent standards and creative methods of changing behaviour.
