This research aims to provide a comprehensive account of the progress local authorities have made with shared services before outlining a series of new methods and models that would enable the concept of shared services to be expanded and used more extensively. The report will make a series of recommendations to central and local government to promote the usage and efficacy of shared services.
Up to this point there has been significant enthusiasm for shared services within the public sector without progress on an equivalent scale, despite many examples of good practice. However the scale of impending fiscal consolidation means that we must now look to revitalise the agenda to assist public bodies in making the efficiency and transformative changes that are required.
Join us at the report launch to hear our key recommendations and to hear the opinion of the following invited panellists:
Helen Bailey, Director of Public Services, HM Treasury
The Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General
Cllr Colin Barrow, Leader, Westminster City Council
