In trying to create a more sustainable and secure state for future generations we are constantly slowed down by the burden of ever increasing demand. The pressure of increased demand on public services not only drives up costs but restricts the ability to innovate and transform. The national economic picture is forcing agencies across the public sector to seriously look at how they can reduce demand. The big challenge is doing this in a way that strengthens society and makes individuals more independent.
This fringe event will explore what techniques are available to local government to help reduce demand, change behaviour and build stronger communities. You will be part of an exclusive audience of local government leaders and executives, plus special guests including:
Chris Skidmore MP, co-author of Britannia Unchained
Cllr. Roderick Bluh, Leader, Swindon Borough Council
Cllr. Julian Daly, Executive Leader of the Council, St Albans City and District Council
and Simon Parker, Director, NLGN
Drinks and canapés will be available.
