Report Launch – The Future of Local Economic Growth

Kindly supported by BT and Kent County Council

This free event marks the cullmination of a major research project for NLGN.

It is clear local economies will be under significant pressure in the coming years. Achieving strong and sustainable growth will not be easy: the outlook for the Eurozone and the UK economy remains bleak, and budget cuts are putting a strain on councils’ resources and capacity to pursue a ‘business as usual’ approach to economic development. A full understanding of the current situation and new approaches for the future are needed, both of which our report aims to provide.

Both the report and the discussion accompanying its launch will address these challenges and the new approaches necessary to tackle them. With contributions from key central government and local government stakeholders, including Edward Twiddy, Deputy Director, Local Government & Regions, HM Treasury, the discussion will examine both the practical and strategic tools for promoting growth. Learn how councils, local enterprise partnerships and businesses can work together to achieve vibrant local economies while sharing your own insights.
