Responding to the potential billion pound cut to local government funding
22 November, 2012

In response to the LGA’s paper detailing how local government faces the possibility of a further funding reduction totaling £1bn, NLGN Director Simon Parker, said:

“Ministers must stop treating local government like a piggy bank to be smashed open on a rainy day. There is only so much this sector can take without seriously compromising core services and some councils are already at risk of becoming unviable. They are not helped by the government’s increasingly unpredictable financial formulae and the late announcement of the settlement.”
