During this dinner we will be examining the role for local authorities as ‘place-shapers’. Place-shaping is core to pushing forward innovation in local government, and concerns the leadership role of local authorities as they work with their communities to create better social and public outcomes for their citizens. We will consider how local authorities can best work with partners across localities to help shape communities, create new models of delivering public services, and respond to austere times in local government. We will also explore the barriers to effective place-shaping, and examine ways in which these can be overcome to create improved outcomes for local citizens in their communities.
Our speakers will include Joanna Killian, Chief Executive of Essex County Council and Laura Wilkes, Head of Policy and Research at NLGN.
