Explore new approaches to managing growing demand on public services at the Conservative Party conference.
Faced with continued budget cuts and rising demand for social care, councils are being forced to drastically reduce their budgets for parks and public spaces – often by as much as 50 to 60 per cent. Whilst efficiencies and revenue generation are playing a role in meeting some of the shortfall, many councils are still unsure how they will be able to keep their streets clean and their parks havens for health and happiness.
NLGN will be launching a new report at this event which addresses this issue. It argues that given the vital importance of the public realm to our wellbeing, new strategies are urgently needed. It highlights two strategies which NLGN believe are currently under-utilised by most councils and deserve renewed attention:
- preventative behaviour change, including the use of insights from behavioural psychology
- concerted co-production and harnessing of community capacity
Our Director, Simon Parker, will present the key findings of the report and we will be joined by Marcus Jones MP, Minister for Local Government and Heather Wheeler MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Local Government.”
This event is free to attend and refreshments will be provided along with a not-to-be-missed opportunity to network with other leading figures in this field.
