Both local authorities and housing associations operate in challenging circumstances to deliver new homes. Despite this, local authorities and housing associations are finding new ways to meet housing needs, and opportunities do exist. NLGN is working with the National Housing Federation on a project that will set out proposals for maximising impact in the future and delivering more homes, more quickly. This research will be a useful resource for housing associations and local authorities alike to develop their own plans for future joint working.
This project will answer some of the following questions:
- What are the benefits of local government and housing associations working more closely together? What are the barriers or risks to closer collaboration and how can these be overcome?
- What options are there for partnership arrangements?
- Are there any changes to the legislative, policy or governance landscape that could be made to enable more opportunities for stronger collaboration?
