Conservative Party Conference: How can we improve children’s services?

Eventbrite - Conservative Party Conference: How can we improve children's services?

There has never been a more important time for local government and wider public services to reinvent themselves. Funding is being radically reduced just as the demands made on services grows. Old rigid models of service delivery, funding and public engagement are no longer fit for purpose.

At the Conservative Party conference, we aim to explore the growing challenges facing children’s services. There is strong evidence that caseloads are rising and needs are becoming more complex while constrained resources are making it harder to shift funding towards early intervention.

Key areas this event will address:

  • Why is there an increase in demand for children’s services?
  • How can effective early intervention and prevention be sustained despite cuts to local government?
  • What changes are needed at national policy level to ensure better outcomes for the most vulnerable children? How can we raise the political profile of these issues?
  • How can government support a more preventative approach locally to secure better outcomes for the next generation?

We don’t just want this to just be a discussion about how serious the problems in children’s services are – that is well established. We want this event to come up with real solutions.
