Building Homes, Growing Communities: How building better can help councils achieve positive social outcomes

In association with:

The quality of the built environment has significant implications on the wellbeing of people living there. Despite this, developments such as garden cities and the high design standards they look to set can be perceived as introducing unnecessary cost. By improving planning & design, however, councils have the opportunity to greatly benefit people’s lives. The report draws on an extensive evidence base to show how effective planning and design of places can:

  • Improve social cohesion
  • Promote mental and physical health
  • Increase use of public transport
  • Help to reduce crime
This parliamentary launch will include a presentation of the report’s findings and feature contributions from key stakeholders. This event provides a great opportunity to network with peers and all attendees will receive a free hard copy of the report.
