Innovation Exchange Programme

Leading Partnerships to Transform Place

In partnership with Local Partnerships

NLGN are thrilled to announce topics that their popular Innovation Exchange programme will cover next year.

Unique to the sector, these day-long events are 100% peer led. Participation is exclusive and free to NLGN members. The confidential and safe environment, expertly facilitated by NLGN staff, encourages senior officers from across the country to candidly and constructively explore the challenges they face. Participants return to their council with fresh ideas, useful contacts and a deeper understanding of the issues for which they have responsibility.

Councils across the country are now committed to place-shaping strategies. These move beyond the daily provision of services and aim instead to adopt and implement a vision for an area that delivers better outcomes for residents and solves long-term challenges. But councils are discovering that they can’t deliver that place-shaping vision alone. Close partnerships with other public bodies, businesses, voluntary sector and residents themselves are vital to success. Without that collaboration, a place-shaping strategy is likely to be underpowered and ineffective. Collaboration is easier said than done though. Organisational interests rarely align perfectly, the core vision may not appeal beyond the council and the chance to fall out over detail is high. This Innovation Exchange will explore the techniques, mindset and skills, councils are employing to build a shared mission for partners, powerful enough to last over the long term.

Suggested attendees: Those with strategic responsibility for corporate strategy, engagement, place, partnerships.

“Do not miss an NLGN Innovation Exchange – I came back to my council with fresh insights, practical ideas for implementation and a brand new network of people in exactly the same boat as me” Joanna Ruffle, Director of Transformation, Southend Council

In keeping with government guidelines on COVID-19 we are moving all Innovation Exchanges to online platforms for the foreseeable future for the health and safety of our members, partners and staff.

The events will take place on the dates specified and we are working with our partners to deliver the same peer-led, intense and in-depth learning experience straight to wherever you are.
