Ada Burns has been the Chief Executive of Darlington Borough Council since 2005.
Her prior career includes 25 years in London, working in local government, an urban development corporation, and the third sector, with leadership of housing development, regeneration and social inclusion programmes and services.
Ada is a strong advocate of partnerships and has been an active player within the longstanding collaboration between business and councils within the Tees Valley. She is the lead chief executive on transport matters for the Tees Valley Combined Authority and was instrumental in securing a place for the Tees Valley on the Board of Transport for the North.
Ada takes a particular lead in respect of culture and heritage, and is working with partners to ensure that the bi-centenary of the Stockton to Darlington rail journey is a fitting tribute to our past and future ingenuity.
