Retail Therapy: Local capital finance and the retail bond market
4pm-6pm | 20th February 2012
The London Stock Exchange, 10 Paternoster Square, London

Kindly supported by the London Stock Exchange

Local capital investment faces a challenging future: centrally provided funding is set to be reduced by 30 per cent over the spending review period and major investment programmes in schools and hospitals are disappearing.

In this challenging context our report is set to examine how the retail bond market could become part of this new capital finance landscape.

This launch event will involve presentations from high profile figures from the local government sector, the financial services industry and the report’s lead researcher, followed by a panel discussion and networking.

Future Citizen
4pm-6pm | 29th February 2012
Central London

The relationship between councils and the people they serve is changing. The public is becoming more sceptical about government’s ability to address social problems, while local authorities are increasingly reshaping their services in ways that demand effort from citizens themselves. New Labour’s idea of the ‘consumer-citizen’ appears to be dying, but what might replace it?

This event will be used to launch a new think piece from NLGN and PA Consulting that explores how the citizens of the future will want to engage with councils, and what this means for local government organisation. With contributions from leading industry experts, top local authorities and others, this discussion offers the opportunity to learn how councils are seeking to reshape the way they interface with communities and networking with key stakeholders.
