NLGN Research Seminar: Tackling Climate Change through Communities

The event is part of an ongoing research programme in conjunction with British Gas. It will examine the potential of the new ‘Green Deal’ for supporting household energy efficiency measures due to be introduced as part of the ‘Energy Security and Green Economy Bill’. It will focus in particular on how the Bill should encompass the social housing sector, looking at issues including the role of coordinated neighbourhood energy efficiency measures, how local government can work with energy companies to implement the Green Deal and the wider policy framework.

This event will consist of one hour of presentations followed by one hour of group discussion. We aim to bring together a wide range of representatives from local government, the not-for-profit and the private sector to share and discuss the successful methods currently being trialed as the UK moves forward with the carbon reduction agenda. This event, sponsored by British Gas, follows on from our London seminar and provides an opportunity for colleagues in the north of England to attend and contribute to this important discussion. Similar to our London seminar, we will examine the potential of the new ‘Green Deal’ for supporting household energy efficiency measures due to be introduced as part of the ‘Energy Security and Green Economy Bill’.
