Our Networks

NLGN is a unique think tank, bringing together innovative policy makers, politicians and professional managers from across the public and private sectors to experiment with new ideas, share learning and influence the shape of public policy across all levels of government.

The Corporate Partners
NLGN’s Corporate Partners are some of the most innovative and creative companies working to provide services to the local government sector. Working across all sectors, from parks and roads, to finance and business redesign, they enable the Network to combine the best of public and private experience and ideas.

Public Sector Partners
Public sector partners are a crucial link for the wider Network to connect with central government and executive agencies that are looking to create partnerships at the local level in pursuit of national objectives.

The Innovation Network
The Innovation Network provides a space for ambitious council officers and politicians to come together to share learning and best practice, engage with senior politicians and practitioners, and network within the sector. It allows councils to stay on the forefront of policy developments on the national scene, boost their national profile and plug directly into NLGN’s research programme.

The Mayoral Forum
Following the introduction of the elected mayoral option in the Local Government Act 2000, NLGN provided support and advise for local mayoral campaigns across the country. In partnership with the IDeA, NLGN now hosts The Mayoral Forum, to facilitate regular meetings, learning and peer support for the mayors, and to disseminate the key messages and lessons to stakeholder groups across central and local government, media and the public.

MAA Forum
The MAA Forum acts as an alliance of current and prospective Multi-Area Agreements, hosted in conjunction with the Institute of Political and Economic Governance. It provides a space to share learning and ideas, influence policy thinking from the ground up and a lobbying base to ensure national momentum is sustained in MAA policy development.
